Our journey commenced a decade ago, when our 15 year old son suddenly became very ill with Ulcerative Colitis, a form of inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
He was a budding professional football player with many years of experience at the highest level for his age. He had been overseas training with a Danish Professional football club, and on his return to Australia, we knew something was wrong.
Our son was very lethargic, and had lost a noticeable amount of weight. Unbeknown to us, he was just starting to experience the first symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis, a disease that would ultimately change the direction of his life, as well as our own.
The good news is that through clean living, healthy organic nutrition, and an active lifestyle, our son is managing his Ulcerative Colitis very well indeed. Although his dream to become a professional football player could not be realised, we are very proud to announce that he has completed a medical degree, and his future is looking wonderful.
Over the past decade we have travelled hundreds of thousands of kilometres, and trialled some of the best organic produce available, both locally grown and from overseas to ensure our son’s good health and wellbeing. Ultimately it changed the whole family’s philosophy about food and lifestyle.
We have met some amazing people on those travels, and worked together with doctors, farmers and nutritionists, in search of the very best products and information available to ensure the continuing improvement in our son’s health.
Why Organic Food Hampers?
The concept was born through the necessity to provide our son with healthy organic produce sourced from Queensland, and sending it to Victoria where he was studying and living on campus. His local shopping centre did not stock suitable food and consumables, and he was time poor due to his studies.
Consequently, we would prepare a hamper box, full of wonderful produce that was free from additives and preservatives, gluten and dairy free with no added sugar, and send it by overnight courier to him in Victoria. We also put a great deal of emphasis on ensuring that all of the produce was totally organic and IBD friendly.
His anticipation and excitement was palpable, as he would open the weekly hamper whilst talking to us on the telephone, to share his delight about the deliciously healthy and thoughtfully chosen contents within.
So our own personal journey has led us to the formation of Organic Food Hampers, and we believe that it is our responsibility to share our knowledge and experience we have gained, to benefit others.
We hope that our Organic Food Hampers will be accepted with the same excitement by everybody who opens them. We know that anyone who receives an Organic Food Hamper, will realise that a lot of love and thoughtfulness has gone into the process, whether they receive it as a gift, or as a necessity for better health.
Love from all the team at Organic Food Hampers
